gather at our table” to get the full experience. As you approach the front door,
you are immediately greeted by seasonal flowers along a grand covered porch
with comfortable benches, rockers and a swing to relax on. Sometimes there is
even live music to enjoy while sipping on a refreshing beverage. Since the
menu changes often, there is a chalkboard with the day’s selections to ponder
while waiting for a table. Don’t worry; your server will be able to review the
items with you again at the table. Please keep in mind, items change daily and
are based on availability and season. Quantities are limited, so please be
understanding if something you desire is unfortunately unavailable at the time
of your visit.
As you will notice, there are several large tables in our dining rooms. We love
to entertain large parties and accept reservations for groups of 15 or more,
otherwise it is first come, first served. It is best to call a week in advance for
reservations if possible. Feel free to visit with our other guests, pick out some
the wares in our lobby or take a short walk over to the Mountain View Bulk
Foods next door, should you have to wait for a table. At the bulk foods store,
you can pick up some fresh baked bread and delicious jellies, as well as lovely
scented candles and other fine goods.
If you are not familiar with family style dining, let us explain. Your server will
tell you today’s available selections and each table then has to decide on two
meat choices for everyone to share. If a third meat is desired, it can be
included for an additional charge per person. The vegetables and side dishes of
the day will automatically come to the table as well as hot rolls and cornbread,
served with sliced butter. The fare will come out in serving dishes for each
person to help themselves as they are passed around “family style”. We
encourage our guests to ask for more, but only if they can eat what they take,
as we do not allow doggy bags. If that is not enough, we also include your
beverages and a dessert of your choice.
